What to Expect When You Visit
Going to a new church can be a little intimidating. Every one is different and it's hard to tell if you'll fit without taking the plunge and visiting. We can't completely solve that, but we can make it a little easier. Here's an attempt to answer some of the questions you might have.
What happens during a worship service?
We keep things fairly simple. Usually there's a welcome, some singing (we'll give you the words, but it's OK to fake it), announcements, and a message. Afterward we generally hang around to talk and snack, and some weeks we have lunch (check the calendar).
If you want a preview of what a message sounds like, you can listen to a bunch on the Messages Online page.
How big is Compelled?
We're fairly small, but growing! Depending on the season, we currently average between 20 and 30 people on a Sunday morning.
Is Compelled's worship modern or traditional?
Both! We lean more modern, but try to bring in the best of the past as well.
What should I wear?
As long as you're covered, that's great! For most of us, jeans are fine, and shorts are fairly common in the summertime (we don't have A/C). If you want to dress up more, that's OK too.
Will I be asked to give money?
You'll have the option, but it's up to you. Our stance is that God doesn't need our money, but that He gives us the opportunity to give as one way to worship Him and join in the work of the church. Giving is kept private, and even the elders generally won't know whether someone gives or how much.
Is there anything for my kids?
Unfortunately, we currently aren't able to offer classes for children. We do have a room for use by parents as needed, and hope to be able to begin offering children and youth programs soon.
How do I get there?
It's easy - see our Where We Are page.
What if I have more questions first?
